Tanau’r Lloer (Fires of the Moon)
Welsh with Welsh subtitles
Set in post-war Britain, a writer embarks on a somber train journey home after receiving unsettling news. As the night unfolds, memories resurface, compelling him to confront the events that led to his mother’s confinement in an asylum three decades earlier.
Drawing inspiration from Caradog Prichard’s seminal novel Un Nos Ola Leuad, and accompanied by a haunting score performed by the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, this Welsh-language opera film blends drama, memory, and artistry in striking black and white. It is a genre-defying meditation on grief, mental illness, and the transformative power of creation.
The film is proudly supported by Film Hub Wales as part of the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN), with funding made possible by the National Lottery.
