Melys
30th Anniversary Tour
Welsh award-winning group, formed in Betws y Coed in 1997, first made waves with releases on the legendary Ankst label before signing a five-album deal with Pinnacle Records. Their catalogue includes four acclaimed studio albums—Rumours and Curses, Kamikaze, Casting Pearls, and Life’s Too Short—plus a European compilation, Suikerspin.
The band achieved major recognition in 2001 when their single Chinese Whispers topped BBC Radio 1’s John Peel Festive 50, voted #1 by listeners. Their close relationship with Peel led to 11 Radio 1 sessions and live broadcasts, later continued with Huw Stephens—more than any other Welsh act.
With six Top 10 indie chart singles and a reputation for electrifying performances, they have recently welcomed bassist Stuart Hastings and guitarist Aaron Watkinson. Their return to the stage has included two successful UK tours alongside indie icons The Wedding Present and a standout appearance at the 2020 Rockaway Beach Festival.
Following the release of a live mini-album, the group is now completing work on their first new material in over a decade. The upcoming album is set for release in early summer, accompanied by a UK tour.

“Melys possess a grace and charm all of their own. A most disquieting, unsettling and pleasurable experience.”NME
“..For those who like their pop archetypically perfect with a fair measure of charm” NME
“One of the best bands to come out of Wales, away from the big four who dominate press coverage. With a sonic rumble not a million miles from Depeche Mode at their peak and some cutting lyrics. Melys need a bit of nurturing” BIG ISSUE
“Wondrous Welsh popsters from Betws y Coed …like Dusty Springfield backed by St Etienne. Lovely.”THE GUARDIAN
