Nouvelle Vague

Richard Linklater returns with Nouvelle Vague, a vibrant 2025 comedy‑drama that reimagines the creation of Breathless (1960), one of the defining works of the French New Wave. The film stars Guillaume Marbeck as Jean‑Luc Godard, Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, and Aubry Dullin as Jean‑Paul Belmondo, capturing the chaotic brilliance, artistic rebellion, and emotional tensions behind a cinematic revolution.

Nouvelle Vague premiered to enthusiastic acclaim at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on 17 May 2025, before opening theatrically in France through ARP Sélection on 8 October. The film later debuted in the United States with a limited release on 31 October, followed by global streaming on Netflix beginning 14 November.

Celebrated for its playful style, sharp performances, and affectionate homage to 1960s Paris, the film has already earned major recognition, including a nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards. Zoey Deutch’s performance as Seberg also secured a nomination for Best Supporting Performance at the 41st Independent Spirit Awards.

Nouvelle Vague invites audiences to rediscover the birth of modern cinema through Linklater’s signature wit, warmth, and inventive storytelling.
