Sirât
Sirât follows Luis and his son as they journey into the mountains of southern Morocco, searching for Luis’s daughter, who disappeared during an all‑night rave. Immersed in pounding electronic music and a disorienting sense of freedom, they move from party to party, showing her photograph to strangers as hope begins to slip away. When a group of ravers heads toward one final gathering deep in the desert, the pair follow—pushed onward by desperation and love.
As the landscape grows harsher and the nights more surreal, the journey forces father and son to confront their own limits and the beliefs that have shaped them. Shot across the burning wilderness and unfolding in Spanish, French and Arabic, Sirât is a gripping, atmospheric drama from director Óliver Laxe, co‑written with Santiago Fillol. Sergi López leads the cast in a story that blends mystery, spiritual searching and the raw energy of rave culture.
The film premiered in Competition at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize, before its theatrical releases in Spain (6 June 2025) and France (10 September 2025). It went on to receive eleven Goya Award nominations, including Best Film and Best Director, and earned Academy Award nominations for Best International Feature Film and Best Sound.
