The Real You

The Real You unfolds in a near‑future society where grief and technology collide. After the sudden suicide of his mother, factory worker Sakuya turns to Virtual Figures, a company that reconstructs the dead using data and the memories of the living.

There he meets Ayaka, a young woman who claims to have known his mother. But when her digital recreation is generated, it exposes a version of his mother Sakuya has never encountered — intimate, unsettling, and profoundly at odds with the woman he thought he knew.

Adapted from Keiichiro Hirano’s acclaimed novel, The Real You is a poignant exploration of identity, memory, and the fragile boundaries between human truth and technological illusion.
