The Testament of Ann Lee

The Testament of Ann Lee tells the remarkable true story of Ann Lee, the visionary leader who founded the Shaker movement during the fervour of the 18th‑century Evangelical revival. Revered as Mother Lee by her followers in Manchester, she sought a radical intimacy with the divine through ecstatic dance, song and a belief in gender equality that was centuries ahead of its time. Guided by a powerful vision, she leads her small community across the Atlantic to build a new spiritual home in America.

Blending myth, music and sensory filmmaking, the story unfolds through reimagined Shaker hymns composed by Oscar‑winner Daniel Blumberg (The Brutalist).

This screening includes a recorded introduction from director‑writer Mona Fastvold and lead actor Amanda Seyfried, produced by Reclaim the Frame.
